Among my favourite boxers has to be the late great Arturo Gatti, best known for his trilogy of fights with Micky Ward that rivalled those of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Born in Cassino, Italy Gatti moved to New Jersey and went on to become the IBF and WBC Featherweight and Welterweight champion. He wasn’t the most perfect fighter but with a record of 40 wins and 9 losses he proved more than once that he was exceptionally skilled.
